Sherwood Marine Centre opened its doors in 1982 as a small family owned and operated business at a location near Elk Lake, just outside of Victoria. Originally comprised of Barry Sherwood, his family, and one additional employee, the staff sold outboard motors, boats, and trailers. Establishing themselves as one of Canada’s largest volume outboard dealerships within a few years, Sherwood Marine Centre quickly became a well known and respected name in marine sales. Over time a variety of additional boat and motor lines were added, as well as the parts and marine sports departments, resulting in the need to expand. In January of 1992 Sherwood Marine Centre moved into its current facility in the Keating Industrial Park, ten minutes from the original location.

As it stands today Sherwood Marine Centre comprises 8,000 square feet of indoor showroom, a ski department mezzanine and a full service department. A second location, just blocks away from the main building, specializes in displaying our aluminum and previously enjoyed boats. Barry Sherwood is still at the helm of Sherwood Marine as the President of the company, which has expanded to employ an experienced and helpful staff of over 30 individuals. The main sales office now includes Ray Weisgerber, and Derek Joseph.

The service department is currently staffed by 6 fully-trained mechanics, as well as a number of yard staff to keep your boat in top condition and your motor running smoothly. The knowledgeable staff in our parts department can assist you in finding nearly anything you need for maintenance, repairs or boat safety.
